Founder and president of Marathon Financial Planning, Joseph Leuchtmann, CFP® has dedicated the last 15 years to helping local residents as well as individuals across the country become financially fit for the post-working years. A marathon runner with 118,000 miles under his feet (and counting), Joseph is very familiar with training to keep in top shape, a concept he applies to help his clients stay focused and motivated to accomplish their financial goals.

Since opening the doors to his independent practice in 2005, Joseph has helped many families set and pursue their goals for retirement. He utilizes custom planning strategies that are in the best interest of the individual and specifically designs each plan to fit their one of a kind circumstances, abilities and wishes.

In addition to having more than a decade of experience in the financial services industry, Joseph has earned the esteemed CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. In order to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, Joseph had to complete a two-year training course and pass a comprehensive examination on advanced financial planning strategies and topics in the areas of insurance, employee benefits, investments and securities, state and federal income tax, asset protection, retirement planning and estate planning. Also, Joseph must continue to uphold the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards’ ethical guidelines and meet the organization’s annual ongoing education requirements.

Joseph is also a Registered Representative and offers securities through Cetera Advisor Networks LLC, Member FINRA/SIPC. He is a fully licensed insurance professional in the state of Missouri and other states.

Prior to starting his personal practice, Joseph worked for Morgan Stanley. Joseph also spent a portion of his life as a professional athlete. His achievements in his running career include: competing in a 29 marathons; being named in the Who’s Who in Track and Field; running as a Member of Team Adidas; inclusion on the U.S. Marathon List for 5 consecutive years; 2008 Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Induction; and being a 2-time Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier. Joseph also earned the title of an All-American athlete at the University of Illinois where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
